Spanish Passport

Spanish passports (Pasaporte Español) are issued to Spanish citizens for the purpose of travel outside Spain. Every Spanish citizen is also a citizen of the European Union. The passport, along with the national identity card allows for free rights of movement and residence in any of the states of the European Union and European Economic Area.
All new passports issued by Spanish government after January 2015 correspond to the so-called biometric or electronic passport (e-passport) which incorporates a chip embedded in its back cover that contains the biometric data relative to the facial image of the owner of the document, in addition to the personal data contained in the machine readable OCR lines.
